Spotlight

Writer/Director Tom McCarthy’s Spotlight is a powerful true life-based story about the Boston Globe’s exposé of pedophilia amongst Boston’s Catholic clergy that, ultimately, brought down a Cardinal and opened up the world-wide scandal within the Church.
The superb cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, John Slattery and Live Schreiber in one of his finest performances to date.

However, the real star of this fine production is Editor Tom McArdle, who keeps the often mundane operations of news investigation moving forward, interestingly, much like Editor Robert L Wolfe did nearly 40 years ago with All the President’s Men.

Spotlight is an important film, well deserving of a 4.5 out of 5.
