Director Craig Gillespie’s Cruella is the most off-brand Disney film in memory. The initial segment is so cruel that I find it unsuitable for young children.
That aside, the story gets progressively better once Emma Thompson
appears as the dastardly clothes designer and Emma Stone steps into her Cruella
character and the plot unravels, including the explanation of the tasteless opening.
Seriously, I would have enjoyed the film more if it didn’t have the Disney banner behind it.
Nevertheless, I give Cruella a 4.1 out of 5.
