The Legend of Tarzan

Director David Yates’ The Legend of Tarzan has all the CGI animals one could hope for in an epic production, but neither the script by Adam Cozad and Craig Brewer nor the editing by Mark Day are able to deliver the action that would be truly deserving of this iconic character.
If it were not for the presence of Margot Robbie, I would say, “Take a pass on this movie.”  And, it’s not just Robbie’s looks, it is her spirit that commands the screen and makes a choppy production worth seeing.

Yates has done a fine job on Harry Potter films, but I don’t think he was the right pick for this production.  It was a little too light in its impact.  Even the climactic fight with Tarzan’s nemesis ended weakly.  This was supposed to be an adults’ film, not a kids’ film.

I give The Legend of Tarzan a 3.3 out of 5.
