Killing Them Softly

Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly is about scum dealing with scum.

Here’s what you learn:

1.      If you’re going to steal, don’t steal from mobsters.  Makes sense.

2.      Mobsters supposedly spend a lot of time watching and listening to national news.  Really?

3.      No one is killed softly.   There’s no truth in advertising.

4.      You’ve gotten the Holiday season off to a bad start by wasting your time seeing this movie.  For sure!

To paraphrase Brad Pitt’s character Jackie’s last line, “This film has nothing to do with anything worthwhile.  It’s just a business.”  And, a bad business at that.

I give Killing Them Softly a 1 out of 5 since, at least, Brad Pitt and Richard Jenkins gave decent performances…although I hate to use the word “decent” around this film.
