Luke
Scott’s direction of Writer Seth W. Owen’s awful story Morgan gives robots a bad
name.
Morgan
(Anya Taylor-Joy) is a 5-year-old robotic (A.I.) girl, who looks like a 16-year-old
with the brain of a psychotic doctoral student.
Lee
Weathers (Kate Mara) is sent by “corporate” to oversea Morgan’s mental
evaluation after “she” kills a deer in the forest surrounding the compound
where Morgan is kept.
When she
flunks her evaluation by tearing out Dr. Shapiro’s (Paul Giamatti) throat with
her teeth, Weathers orders her to be put down.
However, the team of doctors who have been working with her turn on since
her creation turn on Weathers and, in thanks, Morgan kills all but Dr. Amy
Menser (Rose Leslie), who she thinks really cares for her.
Then,
Weathers breaks out of the contained room in which she has been locked and, if
the viewer hasn’t figured it out by then, it’s clear Weathers is also an A.I.
She goes
after Morgan and Amy and kills them both.
Corporate is happy everyone at the compound has been killed and decide
to create more creatures like Weathers.
But, I
wasn’t happy and give Morgan a 2.5 out of 5, mostly for
Kate Mara’s haircut.
