Director
Pierre Morel’s Peppermint is a fun “cleaning-up-the-trash” thriller in the
spirit of Charles
Bronson’s Death Wish films of the 20-year period from the middle ‘70s to
the middle ‘90s. If you liked those,
then you’ll enjoy this film.
Jennifer
Garner is excellent as the housewife, who becomes a force of nature after her
husband (Jeff Hephner) and daughter (Cailey Fleming) are gunned down by
henchmen of a notorious drug lord (Diego Garcia). She channels the spirit of her 2005
performance in Electra, but here she doesn’t have the training advantage of
that character, so it’s even more exciting.
I give Peppermint
a 3.8 out of 5.
