Australian Writer/Director Jennifer Kent has created a
fabulous horror film with The Babadook.
A young, single mother (Essie Davis), whose husband died
in a tragic accident, tries to cope with the constant outbursts of her 7-year-old
son (Noah Wiseman) both in school and at home.
His fixation turns to a pop-up picture book called The Babadook
in which, once the bogeyman character gets into your house, it will
never leave.
As the film moves along, the question is whether the boy
is psychotic, the mother is psychotic or if there really is a Babadook.
The outcome is surprising.
I give The Babadook a 4+ out of 5 for
horror film fans.
