Director Chris Renaud’s The Secret Life of Pets has
a great premise and fun opening, but when the main action starts, it proves to
be strictly for the under-8 set, who’ve brought their parents.
While the little kids will have a good time,
the story is just not that interesting except for the voices of Jenny Slate as a
cute little ball of fluff called Gidget and Kevin Hart as the radical rabbit
Snowball. They create the charm and the
laughs, which elude the main characters voiced by Louis C.K. and Eric
Stonestreet.
I give The Secret Life of Pets a 3.5 out of
5 for the junior viewers.
