Writer/Director Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s Home Again is a
delightful piece of fluff about Alice Kinney, an about-to-be single mother
(Reese Witherspoon), who moves back to L.A. from N.Y. with her young daughters
(Lola Flanery and Eden Grace Redfield).
Being the daughter of a deceased filmmaker, Alice has
inherited his lovely home and through Hollywood happenstance meets three young
aspiring filmmakers (Pico Alexander, Nat Woolf and Jon Rudnitsky), who, through
the instigation of her mother (Candace Bergen), she lets stay in her guest
house.
The film is about nothing other than what I perceive as the
loneliness of living in L.A. and the formation of family wherever and however one can find it. And, that alone, makes
it a worthwhile respite from the raucous thrillers of late.
I give Home Again a 3.9 out of 5.
