Working with an incredibly
interesting script by Writer Allan Loeb, Director David Frankel has created a
really fine film with Collateral Beauty.
Will Smith plays the head
of an advertising agency whose 6-year-old daughter’s death from a brain desease
a few years prior continues to bring him lower and is destroying his
agency.
I won’t say more except
that the trailer for this film gives the wrong impression of what the story is
about. Or does it?
Collateral
Beauty is full of pleasant
surprises right to the end. Performances
by the all- star cast of Hellen Mirren, Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Edward
Norton, Michael Peña, Naomie Harris and Jacob Lattimore make this joyous fun
despite the lead character’s depression. And, Cinematographer Maryse Alberti
and Production Designer Beth Mickle know how to support the cast by creating an
uplifting look and feel to support them.
This is a very sweet film
and I give Collateral Beauty a 4 out of 5.
