Directors Josh Gordon’s and Will Speck’s Office
Christmas Party is, sporadically, quite funny, but the script by Writers
Justin Malen, Lauren Solon and Dan Mazer from a story by Jon Lucas shows that
too many fingers in the same pie too often makes a mess.
Actors Jason Bateman, Kate McKinnon, TJ Miller and Olivia
Munn, each have their moments, along with Jillian Bell, Rob Corddry, Vanessa
Bayer and Karan Soni, but Jennifer Aniston’s negative character is played with
too much…well, negativity… and keeps bringing down the fun.
The party is chaotic, but the script’s up and downs make
it even moreso. Also, the casting of
Courtney Vance as the prospective client doesn’t work and that is another
downer.
Though there are moments of fun and laughter, I can only
give Office
Christmas Party a 3.8 out of 5.
