Anna and the Apocalypse

Director John McPhail’s Anna and the Apocalypse is an engaging comedy that “doesn’t have a Hollywood ending.”

Why engaging? Because more than a comedy, it’s also a musical that takes place in the lives of high school students in a small town situated in northern England.

How sweet…

Oh, yeah.  But, more than a musical comedy, it’s also a zombie movie!

Thanks to the energy of performers Ella Hunt, Sarah Swire, Marli Siu, Malcolm Cumming and the rest of the fine cast, this improbable mix of genres move along at a charming pace and is well-worth seeing.

I give Anna and the Apocalypse a 3.9 out of 5.
