Director Josie Rourke’s Mary Queen of Scots is an
epic tale told badly.
That was not an easy task, considering the movie stars
two of my favorite actresses, Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie. But, Screenwriter Beau Willimon’s lethargic script
makes the story of the rivalry between cousins Queen Elizabeth of England and
Queen Mary of Scotland undramatic and largely uninteresting.
It’s a shame such great acting talent should be wasted on
a weak production.
Nice costumes from Alexandra Byrne, but I can only give Mary Queen of Scots a 3.1 out of 5.
